Cheyenne is the capital and most populous city of Wyoming, with a population of 65,132 residents as of the 2020 US Census.2 It was established on the Fourth of July 1867 and is America's 14th-least populated state capital city. Cheyenne was named after the native American Indian Cheyenne tribe, a tribe prominent in America's large and flat region known as the Great Plains.
